Kindergartener – “The worst part about school is that we never get to lay down and rest.”
2nd grader – “Why do we have to go for 7 hours in-person when we could do it in 3 on virtual during COVID? Who decided we should spend more time at school than with our families?
4th grader – “Why is it so expensive to go to a hospital? Everyone should be able to get help when they need it.”
Sophomore – “School is just there to test us not to teach us.”
These are actual quotes from my kids.
And like Whitney Houston, I do believe the children are our future. My goal is to teach them well (HOW to think not WHAT to think) and let them lead the way.
The young generation is going to do amazing things and they are incredibly smart and capable. My greatest desire as a mother is to nurture their creative thought process, hold space for their feelings, and empower them to boldly claim and maintain their autonomy.
